Most Smart Home Systems Tell You What They Did.Thermal Dawn Thinks Ahead.
Our AI learns your home, your solar, your weather, and your tariffs, optimising comfort and cost automatically, around the clock. And because we built it open, it works with the tools you already use.
Your Current System Isn't Actually Smart. It's Just Scheduled.
Most HVAC systems sold as "smart" are timers with a phone app. They turn on at 6am because you told them to. They don't know your solar is generating, that today's warmer than yesterday, that your tariff spikes at 3pm, or that your family is home early.
They react. They don't anticipate.
Thermal Dawn is built around a different idea: your heating and cooling should make decisions for you, optimising across solar, weather, tariffs, and your home's thermal behaviour, without you having to think about it.
Four Things Our AI Optimises Simultaneously
Your Solar Generation
Thermal Dawn monitors your solar output in real time and forecasts tomorrow's generation from local weather. Charging happens when your panels are producing, not when the grid is expensive.
Your Energy Tariffs
We ingest your tariff schedule automatically, time-of-use rates, peak windows, off-peak valleys, feed-in rates, and charge thermal storage when electricity is cheapest.
Your Local Weather
Thermal Dawn pulls hyperlocal forecasts and adjusts charging depth accordingly, storing more ahead of a cold front, less on a mild day.
Your Home's Thermal Behaviour
Over time, Thermal Dawn builds a model of how your specific home holds and loses heat, making every decision more accurate each month.
Your System. Your Data. Open by Design.
Most HVAC manufacturers lock you into their ecosystem, their app, their cloud, their subscription. If they stop updating the app, your "smart" system gets dumber.
We built Thermal Dawn to be open. It integrates natively with Home Assistant and exposes a full open API, so you have direct local control of your system and full access to your own data: not a walled garden. The cloud layer adds the smart optimisation and over-the-air improvements; the openness means you're never locked in, and you can read, export, or automate against every data point the system measures.
The Three Open Integration Pillars
Home Assistant Native Integration
Works with Home Assistant out of the box: full local control, full sensor visibility, full automation. No community workarounds or Modbus adapters.
Open API
Every data point, flow temperature, return temperature, thermal store level, solar input, energy consumption, COP, is accessible via our open API. Build your own dashboards and automations. It's your data.
VPP-Ready
Architected to participate in Virtual Power Plant programs as they become available in your area. Your stored thermal energy can help balance the grid and earn credits. Opt in when you're ready, opt out any time.
You Don't Have to Be Technical toGet the Most Out of It.
The open API and Home Assistant integration are there for people who want them. But Thermal Dawn's own app is built for the household that just wants to be comfortable and see their savings, without configuring anything.
This isn't a mockup. The app is live and running in our first home today, and we ship updates constantly, 8 firmware and 50+ app updates in a single month.
App Features:
- Comfort Scheduling: Set preferred temperatures by time and zone. The system handles the rest.
- Real-Time Energy Dashboard: Solar input, thermal store level, grid draw, and estimated savings, live.
- Savings Tracker: Running total of what you've saved versus grid energy costs.
- Forecast View: What the system is planning for the next 24 hours and why, solar forecast, tariff windows, charging schedule.
- Remote Control: Override from anywhere.
- Alerts and Diagnostics: Proactive notifications if anything needs attention.

The System You Buy Today Isn't the System You'll Have in Two Years.
Thermal Dawn receives over-the-air updates continuously, new tariff integrations, improved forecasting, new VPP partnerships, expanded Home Assistant capabilities, delivered automatically, no technician visit. In a single month we shipped 8 firmware and 50+ app updates to the system in the field, remotely.
This is infrastructure built to improve, not degrade. While a lithium battery loses capacity every cycle, Thermal Dawn's intelligence compounds, getting smarter about your home and Australia's evolving energy market with every update.
We Flag Problems Before They Become Breakdowns.
Thermal Dawn's remote monitoring tracks performance continuously, flow rates, temperatures, pressure, compressor behaviour, electrical draw, and alerts you when something trends outside normal parameters, before it becomes a fault.
For our early customers, our engineering team also has visibility into system performance, so we can often diagnose and resolve issues remotely, without a call-out. And because Thermal Dawn uses standard hydronic components serviceable by any licensed HVAC technician, you're never locked into proprietary repairs.
Your Home's Data Staysin Your Home.
We take a straightforward position on your data: the system works for you, not the other way around.
You have full access to your own data through the open API and Home Assistant, read it, export it, automate against it. We collect anonymised, aggregated performance data, with your permission, to improve forecasting across the Thermal Dawn fleet, and you can opt out. No selling your data, no third-party advertising, no subscription required to use the system you paid for.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with Home Assistant?
Yes, natively, out of the box. Full local control, full sensor visibility, and full automation, with no community workarounds or Modbus adapters. There's also a complete open API for everything else.
Do I have to use your app?
No. The app is there for households that just want comfort and savings without configuring anything, but the open API and Home Assistant integration mean you can run and monitor the system however you like.
What data do you collect, and can I opt out?
You have full access to your own data. We collect anonymised, aggregated performance data, with your permission, to improve forecasting across the fleet, and you can opt out entirely. We don't sell your data, run third-party ads, or require a subscription to use the system you paid for.
What happens to my system if Thermal Dawn's servers go down?
Your heating keeps running, unchanged.
The controller in your home makes the decisions, not our servers. It reads your tank and room temperatures, follows your schedule, and drives the heat pump over your local network. Our servers only receive a copy of what happened.
So if our platform goes offline or your internet drops, the system heats your house exactly as it did the day before. You lose the app view and remote support until it's back, nothing else. The equipment's own safety limits sit in firmware on the unit itself, so they hold regardless.
Can it join a VPP and earn me credits?
It's built for it. As Virtual Power Plant programs become available in your area, your stored thermal energy can help balance the grid and earn credits. You opt in when you're ready and can opt out any time.
